We have to come to accept the hard fact that we are not right there at the top, at the moment. No doubt, we have potential, and based on the unity I have seen amongst the players, and the willingness to work hard and accomplish, we will get back to the top in good time. We are building a new team, and patience is required. It is like starting from the scratch, because the fact is that we didn’t qualify for the last Africa Cup of Nations. However, I have the confidence that this group will make Nigeria proud again.”he said</div>

Oliseh has also met separately with Victor Moses and other Nigerians in England.</div><div style="text-align: justify;">However, the British media suggest that while being flattered by the meeting with Oliseh and Nigeria’s desire to get him on board, Ibe is still hoping to launch an international career with England. Oliseh, on his part, has made it clear that he wants Ibe to switch.</div><div style="text-align: justify;">He spoke to Ibe personally at Melwood to outline his ideas for the national team and it will be interesting to see whether or not he is successful.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><em>The Guardian</em>’s report does add that the FA are now considering bringing Ibe’s England debut forward in order to ensure he doesn’t switch to Nigeria.</div><div style="text-align: justify;">The Liverpool striker is expected to be named in Gareth Southgate’s England U-21 squad for next month’s matches against USA and Norway.</div><div style="text-align: justify;">He could still change his mind until he has played a competitive fixture for the senior side but considering his progress with Liverpool it’s unlikely to be long before Roy Hodgson calls upon him.</div><div style="text-align: justify;">Ibe has been Liverpool’s standout performer in pre-season and is expected to start in Sunday’s Premier League opener at Stoke City.</div><br /></div>

<p dir="ltr">Nigerian billionaire Aliko Dangote insists that soon he will have ‘enough time and enough resources’ to buy Arsenal football club, whatever the price.</p><p dir="ltr">Dangote, 58, is Africa’s richest man having amassed a fortune in the region of $18.4 billion (£12.2 billion). Keshi: Eagles will topple Egypt

<p dir="ltr">Super Eagles coach Stephen Keshi has tipped his side to overtake Egypt when the next round of games are played in the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign. Eagles had on Saturday shot to the summit of Group G but their temporary leadership lasted for about 24 hours after Egypt whipped Tanzania Cairo 3-0 in Cairo to now occupy the top position.</p><p dir="ltr">Like the Eagles, who defeated Chad 2-0, Egypt had to wait till the second half to grind out a 3-0 win against Tanzania, with all the goals coming within a spate of nine minutes. Rami Rabia broke the deadlock in the 61st minute and barely four minutes later, Basem Morsi added the second goal with Fiorentina forward, Mohammed Salah netting the the third in the 70th minute of the encounter.</p><p dir="ltr">With three points and three goals, Egypt have the same three points with Nigeria but lead on superior goals difference. Serbia beat 10-man Mali, to face Brazil in final

<p dir="ltr">Ivan Saponjic scored a dramatic extra-time winner as Serbia beat Mali 2-1 at Auckland’s North Harbour Stadium to set up a FIFA U-20 World Cup final with Brazil. Not for the first time at New Zealand 2015, the substitute was the Europeans’ hero, with his goal settling an enthralling and evenly contested match that had earlier been punctuated by strikes from Andrija Zivkovic and Youssouf Kone, with the latter receiving a red card in extra time.</p><p dir="ltr">Serbia were returning to the scene of their quarter-final win over USA and, having ended that game on a high, they begun this one the same way. It took just four minutes, in fact, for them to take a deserved early lead, with Andrija Zivkovic the scorer. The lively No11 was allowed time and space to run through on goal and pick his spot with a low left-footed shot into the corner after Souleymane Coulibaly had failed in his attempts to cut out Nemanja Maksimovic’s threaded through pass.</p><p dir="ltr">Ahead and on top, Serbia looked to reinforce their advantage and should have gone two in front nine minutes later. But having been caught out for the goal, Coulibaly was able to come to Mali’s rescue, clearing off the line with his keeper stranded after Stanisa Mandic had cut the ball back for Sergei Milinkovic to strike at goal.</p><p dir="ltr">The Africans were living dangerously at this stage and on 21 minutes had another near escape. Serbia again cut through their ranks easily, with Andrija Zivkovic and Malin Gajic combining well on the right to set up Stanisa Mandic. But while the latter’s low cross found Serbia’s No9 just five yards out, his touch was too faint and the ball flicked off his right boot and wide of the far post.</p><p dir="ltr">At this stage, it looked to be only a matter of time before Mali fell further behind. However, as the half wore on, their nerve steadied and they began to create some openings of their own. No-one, though, could have envisaged them levelling matters in the spectacular style they did. </p><p dir="ltr">The goal came out of nothing, with Youssouf Kone gathering possession in an unthreatening position on the left, over 30 yards from goal, and stunning everyone – not least keeper Predrag Rajkovic – with a ferociously struck left-foot shot that skidded into the bottom-right corner.</p><p dir="ltr">If there any were question marks about Rajkovic’s reactions for the goal – however good the strike was – he reaffirmed his worth a couple of minutes later. Souleymane Diarra had jinked in from the left and fired in a shot that was heading for the roof of the net until the Serbia keeper reacted instinctively, sticking out a hand to brilliantly tip over.</p><p dir="ltr">Mali, having been hanging on, suddenly looked the more likely winners. This continued at the start of the second half, with Diadie Samassekou playing in Diedonne Gbakle only for the latter to hesitate at the crucial moment, allowing Rajkovic to narrow the angle and block from his weakly struck shot.</p><p dir="ltr">Serbia were struggling at the other end but, with 18 minutes remaining, a moment of pure inspiration nearly settled the game in their favour. Milan Gajic was the player who supplied it, controlling a dropping ball on his instep 30 yards from goal and crashing in a superb dipping volley. Sadly for the midfielder, the ball bounced down off the crossbar and landed a couple of centimetres in front of the line.</p><p dir="ltr">That left extra time to settle the outcome, and Saponjic to steal the headlines. The forward had come off the bench to become Serbia’s hero in the last 16 against Hungary and he was their super sub again, scoring the goal that took his team through to a historic final. Zivkovic once more played his part with a flighted corner and when Milos Veljkovic rose highest to knock the ball back across goal, Saponjic was on hand to nod the ball home.</p><p dir="ltr">Mali rarely looked like battling back thereafter and their cause was further hampered with eight minutes of extra time remaining when goalscorer Kone received a second yellow card. Chelsea 1-1 Manchester City: Silva salvages a point for the champions

<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on">Manuel Pellegrini had the Spaniard to thank for pulling his side back into it after cancelling out Loic Remy's opener as Frank Lampard made an emotional return to Stamford Bridge<br /><br /><br /><br /><br />Champions Manchester City failed to make inroads into Chelsea's five-point lead as the Premier League's top two shared an absorbing 1-1 draw.<br /><br />Jose Mourinho continued his tempestuous relationship with the media by shunning a pre-match interview with Sky Sports – apparently angered by both a £25,000 fine for comments about referees and Diego Costa's retrospective ban for a stamp on Emre Can during the League Cup semi-final second leg this week.<br /><br />That indiscretion earned the Spain striker a three-match suspension, but the man to benefit from Costa's absence - recalled striker Loic Remy - took centre stage at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.<br /><br />He gave the hosts a 41st-minute lead, before a rare mistake from Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois allowed David Silva to equalise in the final minute of the first half.<br /><br />Although Manuel Pellegrini's team controlled much of the second period, their winless league run extended to three matches.<br /><br />City overhauled deficits in late runs to the Premier League crown in 2012 and 2014, and a similar effort may now be required, as Mourinho’s men remain in the driving seat with 15 games remaining.<br /><br />Aside from Costa's absence, Ramires came into the Chelsea midfield as Cesc Fabregas missed out with hamstring injury, while Bacary Sagna was a surprise inclusion at right-back ahead of Pablo Zabaleta for Manchester City.<br /><br />The visitors started sharply, as Courtois beat away a stinging shot from Jesus Navas inside the first 20 seconds and Fernandinho had a low, angled drive deflected wide.<br /><br />James Milner was alert to disposes Chelsea right-back Branislav Ivanovic in the 24th minute and play the ball into Sergio Aguero, but Kurt Zouma forced City's top scorer to shoot from an acute angle and Courtois saved comfortably.<br /><br />Courtois' opposite number, Joe Hart, made his first save of the match from an Oscar effort after an error by Vincent Kompany let Remy escape down the left flank.<br /><br />John Terry then joined fellow captain Kompany in having an error go unpunished - Aguero pulling a shot wastefully wide after the former England man had missed his kick from a 32nd-minute punt down field.<br /><br />That was a chance the Argentina striker would regret 10 minutes later, as Eden Hazard brilliantly steered Ivanovic's flighted pass back across goal for Remy to convert.<br /><br />City's response was immediate, as Courtois fumbled a searching Navas cross, Aguero smashed the loose ball back towards goal and Silva prodded home.<br /><br />Frank Lampard enjoyed warm applause on his return to Stamford Bridge while warming up with the City substitutes, as his colleagues on the field enjoyed an encouraging start the second half.<br /><br />Silva and Navas combined on the right flank for Fernandinho to plant a header into the turf - Courtois turning the bouncing ball over.<br /><br />Milner then looped a headed attempt onto the roof of the net, the impressive Navas again supplying the ammunition, and City's control increased as Chelsea's midweek League Cup exertions began to tell.<br /><br />Lampard finally made a 76th-minute introduction as City attempted a late assault.<br /><br />However, with Mourinho increasingly animated on the touchline, his side displayed steely resilience in keeping with their manager’s siege mentality, as they closed out what could prove a vital point in the title race.<br /></div>
